Alert: We Need Agency, Committee Or Representative!
Hello!!
I share my concern about this title. I have noticed that something has not happening, none. No action has been taken, or very little. What? It is the agency, committee, or representative that take care of the system, ADA, Department of Civil Rights, EEO, lawyers, and others. This position would take responsibilities of this system.
I was watching the video in DeafVideo.TV about not able to get through with ADA or Dept of Civil Rights and not know what to do about this. The letter told this vlogger to contact the lawyer. It was an insult, because this person is Deaf. The lawyer costs and Deaf people do not have money. I came to realize that I was there, too. I have contact Division on Deafness Department. This department asked me to contact the lawyer. Then I contacted the lawyer(s), and they declined. Then Department of Civil Rights suggested that someone return to the employment with an education and reprimand. This person did not want to go back to the employment, saying this situation became uncomfortable. I have heard from another Deaf people that returned to their employment with the help of DCR, and their situation got worsened. DCR said, then that is too bad. What is that? Looking at the situations, the system failed us.
So, the agency, the committee or representative can take the underground works, small conflicts, and complaints. The position can correct the situations. They can give warning. Something can be done. This is my concern!!

If one gives up, then the other party wins. You need to keep looking for disability law firms and lawyers specializing in ADA until you get one willing to take your case. You have to stay strong
and determined, keeping fighting.
That's how I fought against the hospital and won despite incredible obstacles. It is not easy but if we don't do anything, then who will fight against them?
Is it basically that US Federal making deaf people stay in the underground and walk circle? Reason for me to say because I do not see it in Sweden.
Why does America do have so much discrimination and oppression since US is famous for political power. I do not understand.
I do not want to feel sorry for deaf people in america because if I feel sorry that would considered it as oppression. I just happened to feel sorry because I am SAD for deaf and HH people in USA.
I do not want to feel that I am luck to live in Sweden instead usa.
I am with you all (deaf/HH) people in America!!!

See, I am referring to small complaints, or conflicts that need to be attended. They are often getting lost, because they are not enough to be notable for lawyers. Here, er, I have tried the lawyer Division on Deafness Department recommended, and he did not want our case. He wanted money, not charity, obviously.

I fight over the hosptial prefer and encouraged another clinic to use forgien language intepreter often never show up or missed the appointment without call clinic.
Three days ago,I just recently lost my case because The eye clinic won the case so they can use high school interpreter. Human Civil Right seem too weak and too flaw..
Three of case I am still fighting with A.D.A case.
By the way I lost my case because they have a right to use lousy interpreter while I had a eye infections. It was cornea Ucler. I could not see interpreter signed and I keep say move while eye examine.
obvuousy they play games with me for 10 years. It is really serious oppression on Deaf community,too.
So I wrote a Better Business Buear a letter that I file complaint against three agencies with their business of agencies and doctor's address and Hosptial.
One of three finally admitted they dont want to call the clinic that they dont have enough interpreter. I did won one of three. I am still working on to fight over hospital issues, sooner.
Better than never send B.B.B. Think about today can use non certificate interpreter ripped you the clinic. The clinic dont really care about non certificate.
Everywhere no matter what! you have right complaint and saved collect file complaint letters. I saved about 10 letters in 20 years.
Lawyer often disrespected for money who is out of pockets. they dont care and want to money. We are very suffer for that.. I hope ADA might changed someday to strict to use certificate interpreter instead of Non interpreters. I am sick of non certificate often dont understand what I gave a name of medicines for what? Non-terpreter say I never heard of Depo Provera medicine for injection. I said my god it is familiar for more than 15 years! it has been helpful for women's uterus to stopped bleeding. Non interpreter say Never heard of the name.. I am sick of her saying " Never heard of the name of medicine to protect the uterus bleeding! I was #$%&!@ at doctor for hiring horrible interpreter. I agree with Mishkazena's comment. it is very hard to fight and lawusit for not hire a intepreter.

Umm, I forgot to say the hosptial told all of clinic to use forgien language and now one of student from high school. she always earning money to interpreter at Eye Clinic. I think It is not right to intpreter while she is still student because of medical vocubary can be error to misinformaed to doctor or Eye Clinic.
Pretty Ovbvuiosy they put us hard time with oppression issues. My glasses lense are not right. I have hard time to see it.

This is sad information, and unnecessary situations. This can be avoided, IF we had someone acts like a underdog for your area. I mean, high schooler interpreting is unheard of!! Can you imgaine how serious situation could be that a high schooler has to interpret??? It is a no-no!!

Right,I agree.. It is too pressure on me.. Lately My blood pressure often end up mess up because of that and my children's doctor,too.. Too much situation come back old problem!

It is important that you feel comfortable at any place. You are paying the doctors, and yet you get inadequacy service. How inconvenience!!

I think HoeyHemp seem frustrated in way that all of hosptial or your wife has been difficult time with doctor for her deaf client who cannot communicate with her.. Doctor is really discriminated her.

One time. I never forgot one of most horrible my expereinced. The nurse rushed to open the door when Doctor and I conversated with ASL interpreter who is CODA from forgien language agencies.
Nurse and doctor conversated about her patient and the baby are troubled. They conversated. So ASL interpreter what they conversated was about. Doctor saw interpreter and blew up at her. I say Hey, Time-out! why you blew and angry at ASL interpreter?
Doctor say ASL interpreter doesnt suppose to interpreter what our conversation. I said Right, Your nurse should tell you to get out of exam room and talk situation in right room. NOt here.. ASL interpreter's job to interptreter to me. It is her job to tell me what about. Doctor, you violated of HIPAA because nurse tell you front of us. It is not our fault.. NOt interpreter fault.
Doctor stunned and doesnt beleive me and I told her to contact agencies that I recommened.
Other next appointment She read forgien agencies did not show in the computer screen about HIPAA. but ASL agencies do have a signed for HIPAA. she say to me, You are right I am speechless... you are very bright lady.. I say Often deaf people doesnt familiar with HIPAA and Hearing people,too.. not alone me.. I worked clinic.. the reason I am familiar .. Doctor say Are you working at one of clinic here.. I said NO outsider.It is NW Asthma and Allergy Clinic on SandPoint near Children's Hosptial. She shocked Deaf can working? I said Yep.. but most deaf dont find a job 90 percent in USA. She say my god.. I say I can sue you kick us out of doctor because of A.D.A. too. you violated the other patient's privacy.
It was not our responisible but I have to educated Doctor each of appointments.,

Sweden may be an ideal for all Deaf and HH come and live free from oppression. You know I am still learning. How can we deaf and hh people in general to be able to reach congress people to be able to have deaf and hh people to feel happy with full respect of communicate access? Because here in sweden, I can simple page to interpreter center to provide an interpreter without ask anyplace such as at the hospital or lawyer office for an interpreter. I want people to know that deaf and hh people in stockholm, sweden having hard to get an interpreter because of run out of interpreter unlike in my small town that got plenty of interpreter.
Any idea how we deaf and hh people to solve this kind of issue without stuck in the same cycle since ADA? Would it sound funny if we can have lawyer that we have to file against our own lawyer for not give us an interpreter?
That made me wonder what is wrong with NAD?
I am for NAD but how?
It would be fun to have all of them come over here!

I cannot answer your question about NAD, but all I can say is our country is rather big, too big for one small organization. So, that is why we need more organizations for our vast country, smile.
Yes, this came to my thoughts about suing the lawyers for not providing the interpreters themselves!!
